As an aficionado of craft beer, you already know this: Drink your beer from a glass, not the bottle.
Columnist Barry Shlachter from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram explains why, with help from Jim Koch and Grady Hull.
“Some aromas are released by the foam, and others are held in to be released as the beer is consumed,” Hull says. “It’s also an indication of the content of the beer. Beers made with cheap adjuncts like rice and corn are typically low in foam because they are low in protein.”
Drink from the bottle and you lose all those aromas and, thus, a lot of the flavor. But you already knew that. Give other people who aren’t so clueful a link to this article, so that they can start enjoying their beer, too.
