For the beer geek on your list

It’s getting on to the time of year my wife “affectionately” calls the “horrordays”. Nevertheless, December is gift-giving season. Besides a six-pack or three of their favorite brew, what does a beer geek want for the holidays? Why, beer stuff, of course! Here’s a few suggestions for your favorite beer geeks:

The Beer Guide
Hand-picked reviews from RateBeer.com of over 2700 beers. Includes food-to-beer and beer-to-food pairings, is value-priced at under $10 and comes in an easy-to-carry size.

Ultimate Beer
Michael Jackson (no, not that one!) is a giant in the Craft beer movement. This book looks at beers from around the world and suggests when to drink it, with what, where, and why.

The Complete Joy of Homebrewing (3rd Edition)
“Relax. Have a homebrew.” This is Charlie Papazian’s mantra and this is the homebrewer’s bible. No amateur zymurgist’s library is complete without it. How many homebrew books have had three printings?

I’m a bit of a book nut, but I know not everyone is. That’s okay. How about these non-book ideas?

Beer of the Month club
A beer of the month club, such as Hogshead, is a gift that gives all year long. Most ship two different six-packs of craft brewed beer every month and are quite reasonable. Have a care, though, as your state may laws regarding the shipping of beer.

Pub and bar gear
How about a neon sign? Branded merchandise like glassware, coasters, and galvanized buckets? Try PubDecor.com. They have a large selection of items in a wide variety of prices.

Beer garden girl costume
Ladies, want to make a beer guy’s fantasy come true? Show up in this outfit with a couple of full beer steins. He’ll be putty in your hands.

How about you? What’s the best beer-themed gift you’ve ever received?
