Joyce wrote to us a few days ago, asking if we knew what beer had the “lowest level of hopping”.
Apparently, she’s on something of a restricted diet and hops do “wacky” things to her body. However, she tells us, she loves beer too much to give it up.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t much help. I am an avowed “hop head”. Certainly, I could tell her which beers to avoid.
So I am calling on you, dear readers and beer bloggers. What are the most lightly-hopped beers you know of? The ability of a beer lover to continue to enjoy this wonderful beverage is at stake.
What about Yards Brewing “Ales of the Revolution”. They are based on traditional colonial recipes, which often times skipped the hops, due to availability. I had the Tavern Spruce Ale recently, and it was interesting, at least:

I’d recommend a hefeweizen, Paulaner & Franziskaner are the most popular (for a good reason!).
Most of the taste is of banana, bubblegum, and some cherry with a very slight hop aftertaste.
