Pact on Good Beer

My wife suggested to me the other day that we need to make a pact on drinking good beer. At the time, we were browsing the selection at my candy store and I was complaining about the price of some of the six packs of beer. She said, “You know, you are complaining about paying $9 – $10 for a six pack of beer; yet, when we go out to eat we pay 5 bucks for just one Sam Adams. We should make a pact that when we go out to eat we just drink diet Coke, unless it is a brewpub. Then, we should buy the best beer for drinking at home.”

Brilliant! I think she just told me to buy what ever beer I wanted in the store no matter what the price!

I am so glad I married someone so smart, but of course, I’m the smarter one because I purposely brought her along this time just to see if I couldn’t wet her whistle and have her experience what happens to me every time I browse the beer selection.

So we continued shopping and filled our cart with $65 worth of good beer. After we got home, I reviewed what we had bought; Avery’s Ellie’s Brown Ale, Rogue’s Brown Ale, some Victory Prima Pils for Easter, some staple Saranac IPA’s for me…

Hey wait a minute! All the expensive ones are for her! (Now who’s the smarter one?)

  1. Hmmmm….. I didn’t think you realized that I really got the better part of that deal! At least you didn’t realize that nowhere in the pact was NOT getting dessert mentioned ;-)
