Russian Fisherman Detained in Japan for Illegal Beer Run
An off-duty chief mate of a merchant ship landed on the eastern tip of Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido and bought $80 worth of beer at a highway rest stop. Of course, police arrested him for “entry without necessary documents” after he bought the beer.

iPod more popular than beer on college campuses
According to Student Monitor’s biannual market research survey, the ubiquitous Apple iPod has dethroned beer as the most “in” thing among undergraduates. At least, according to Men’s Journal. This is a follow-up to their effort of two years ago. I’m glad to say I’ve had quite a few from their list, but many more that I now need to find. Of course, with any list of this type all kinds of people will chime in with items they think should be on it, but this list looks pretty darn good.
