Six Packs for soldiers

Without getting into political ideology (this is not a political blog, after all) I believe that the men and women who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces deserve the thanks and respect of every American.

Two people who happen to agree with me, from opposite sides of the political spectrum (a former NRA spokesman and a former leader at MoveOn.org), have created Six Packs for Soldiers.

From their FAQ:

Q: How does this work?
A: You upload a photo of yourself toasting the troops, and we’ll deliver a real beer to a real soldier.

They’re only delivering beer to returning soldiers for now (and non-alcoholic alternatives), but hope to be able to deliver to soldiers in theatre as well.

They’re only doing this until July 4, so if you want to help out do it quickly. They have pictures up on the site of other people who’ve already done it. They’re also sponsoring “Buy a Soldier a Drink Day” on May 26, which is the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
