Speaking of Heineken’s purchase of FEMSA, Public Radio’s Marketplace had a story on how consolidation of brewing giants can help craft brewers. Marketplace: Are beer mergers a good brew for biz? Beer-a-Day #346 It bills itself as the “Beer of the Bahamas” and is brewed by Commonwealth Brewery, a subsidiary of Heineken International. Clear pale yellow. Aroma is slightly floral with a little of that lager “funk”. Taste is, well, typical of a European-style light lager. I’ll gladly have some time next time I’m in the

Beer-a-Day #204 Taking a break from domestic macro lagers, it’s time to try one from Europe. Might as well go with the biggest. Heineken’s a bit of a whipping boy around here. I have never, ever, had a Heineken–or even encountered one being drunk by someone else–that wasn’t lightstruck. It’s so consistent, in fact, that

I’m not a fan of Heineken, as you must know by now, but this is a pretty amusing illustration of the difference between men’s and women’s priorities. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1ZZreXEqSY (via Geeks Are Sexy) submit_url = ‘http://hop-talk.com/2009/01/27/the-difference-between-men-and-women/’; Related Posts:How to make a stealth beer canOpen a Master Lock padlock with a beer canNorth Korea’s first beer commercial

Call for weak Euro beer Austrian officials are pushing for a special “Euro 2008″ beer (read: low alcohol) and branded plastic “Euro 2008″ mugs (read: that can’t be used as projectiles) to be served when Austria and Switzerland host the 2008 European Championship. All in an effort to cut down on hooliganism. Ale’s Well with

We here at Hop Talk don’t talk much about Heineken. It’s primarily one of those “if you don’t have something nice to say” situations. Oh, we’ve nothing personally against Heineken. It’s just that millions of gallons of it are imported to the U.S. every year and it is overpriced. Further, it doesn’t make that long

Good grief, you must have been thirsty! Were they serving alum burgers with salt dressing at the BBQ? I’m afraid that ‘being the same as Budweiser’ would get it a minus vote from me. Next time, go for the club soda with a kerosene chaser – it’s possibly better for you… and there may even be more hops in the kerosene than in the Heineken

Interestingly, Heineken is the best selling beer in the world outside of its home market. Bud sells more globally simply because its domestic market is so large, and Heineken’s so small.

Heineken also sells a 5 liter mini-keg with a built-in tap and CO2 cartridge. Bitberger and Warsteiner also have 5 L cans w/o the CO2 cartridge. I think its a pretty cool package when you have a party. I wish more micros used this kind of packaging.

Heineken had some great radio Keg Can commercials in the early 2000′s. My favorite was where a bully, with a strong European accent, called the Keg Can “weak”, “Puny”, and then kicks the can, only to be agonizing because he hurt his great toe. Not to encringe on publishers rights or perform an illegal act, but anyone know where I can download that mp3?
