Molson Canadian - New at the office

So, the message of this commercial is that all of the Canadian stereotypes those of us “south of the border” are familiar with are false?

Except, of course, that they’re rabid hockey fans.

I admit that I rather like Bob & Doug McKenzie. I was a pretty big fan of SCTV, even though a good bunch of it went over my head at that age. And, of course, my favorite band is Rush, perhaps Canada’s most famous export. Next to Molson, anyway.

As someone that went to school in Potsdam New York, I can appreciate the subtle, yet humorous ways we are different from our friends to the north. I came back to central New York with an understanding of the terms “tuqe” and “poutine” as well as a full collection of Tragically Hip cds. One thing that is funny though, is that if you get far enough north in NY, you can’t really tell the difference between Canadians and Americans. It’s a grey area up there.

One thing that always made me crazy though were the hockey players that would take intro to French…damn it they were French Canadian! How the hell is that fair?!

Here is to buying Molson XXX and Labat’s Wild Cat at the boarder!

Ron lives up that-a-way. I’m sure he can vouch for your observations.
