Oktoberfest six-pack of reviews

Tim Hynds at Sioux Brew is doing a “6-pack or so of reviews of beers brewed in the Oktoberfest style”. He’s also inviting other people to offer up their reviews.

Today’s review is Samuel Adams Octoberfest.

We thought the Sam Adams was pretty good, but it’s not our favorite.

I’m looking forward to seeing what else Tim writes up.

  1. Al,
here’s what on deck for my Oktoberfest reviews (in addition to Sam Adams and Millstream): Schell’s, Left Hand, Spaten, Beck’s, Saranac and Paulaner. I’ll be in Boston next week and hope to pick up some east coast ‘fests.

  2. If I may suggest some others:

    Brooklyn Brewery Oktoberfest
    Flying Dog Dogtoberfest
    Flying Fish Oktoberfish

  3. Flying Dog’s beers are generally available here, but haven’t been able to find the Dogtoberfest. I’m hoping to find the other two next week, but I might be outta luck on the Flying Fish, as I don’t see Mass. distribution on their website. Hoping to find Brooklyn Brewery’s beers in Beantown. Any others I should look out for?

  4. I have just posted my final Oktoberfest review. The total? 13 beers. I am ‘fested out.

My favorites were Brooklyn Brewing Co’s, Saranac’s and Left Hand’s.

Now I’m looking forward to reviewing some nice meaty dopplebocks.

  5. Don’t think I’ve had the Left Hand.

Brooklyn Oktoberfest is one of our favorites. In fact, my brother buys two cases of it as soon as he sees it out somewhere to ensure he has some. It seems to go fast in New Jersey.
