Beer gods

AegirI like studying the myths and deities of ancient cultures. One can gain a particular insight into a culture by the stories they used to try to make sense of the world.

Beer, being about as old as civilization, figures into some of this mythology quite a bit. I recently stumbled across this list of ancient gods linked to beer.

Beer and other fermented drinks have long been produced in various forms around the world. Beer became an important commodity and necessity even in ancient cultures. As such, most of these cultures have a deity or a God dedicated to beer and brewing.

5. Aegir

In Norse mythology, Aegir is actually the God of the sea. It is believed that he has the control of the storms and turbulent seas. He is also known as the God of beer and brewing.
