Oh, there's a few handpumps 'round this way, too. My point was I want to go to England. I missed my opportunity the first and only time I was there, in 1995. (I was on my honeymoon. I wasn't thinking much about beer.)

I've had a number of the Oaked Arrogant Bastards, and I have a bottle of Samichlaus waiting for winter to come 'round again. I guess I'll have to update my list.

Al, just read your post... I am a little late. Had Utopias this a week ago, be ready for a sugary maple taste. best explanation, maple syrup in your mouth, cognac in your throat.

Also, come up to Baltimore for some hand pumps sometime. Max's on Broadway usually has a few on tap, as does MaHaffeys Pub, as well as the Wharf Rat has their own (Oliver) on cask.

Ooooo, it's so rare I get to feel any way smug about the beers available to me, especially on a US blog, but with the exception of numbers 1 and 5 (and I could go out and buy a bottle of number 1 now if I really wanted), I've had several of all of these this year. I wouldn't have put them on my wishlist, but you always want what you can't have, right?

The Oaked Arrogant Bastard has been showing up in a lot of liquor stores in the Baltimore County suburbs. It even showed up in the "tiny hole in the wall place that has the worst selection of beer ever" store that I go to in a pinch.

If they are expanding their distribution, it may start showing up near you soon.

Hey Al, I've found that just about every Total Wine I have been to in the Nothern VA area seems to have Samichlaus nearly year round (even in July). I've seen it in the Fredericksburg, Fairlakes, Warrenton and Sterling stores. If none of them are too far off, you should check them out. They've been having trouble carrying the Anchor Seasonal so you may want to give them a call first to see if they have the Sami in stock.

Good luck in the search.
