I also recently paired many of them with local beers as gifts for the holidays. Doing this quick survey in my head, I just realized that most (more than 50%) of them were women. (and this is of craft beer only - Bud Light friends excluded) My sister's favorite beer is Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout... my neighbors across the street both like craft beer but the female half prefers stronger beers (stouts & IPAs) as opposed to the male half who prefers lighter lagers... and our good friends who we met through our kids love craft beer I was trying to give them some beer from Spanish Peaks (made in Montana) and she tells me, "oh yeah, we visited that brewery."
