Nice deep amber color with a finger’s-width of head. Aroma has a bit of caramel and lemon candy. Medium body, with a bit of roastiness. I like it.

Mendocino White Ale
Our Summer Seasonal is an unfiltered and naturally cloudy ale. It features a thirst quenching blend of sweet orange peel and the subtle spiciness of coriander, topped off with a delicate twist of lemon. Summer is a time when we soak up the sun, and enjoy the goodness of life and friends. A time for parties and pools, barbecues and beer ~ A time for our crisp, refreshing White Ale.
Very pale with just a little cloudiness. Definitely get the orange peel and the coriander in the aroma. Pleasantly sharp from the carbonation. You certainly get the lemon in the flavor. Pretty good.
Amstel Light
Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment. I guess I’m not done with macro lagers.
It’s weird. Depending on how I hold the bottle to the light looks brown or green.
Pale straw. White head. Lightstruck. Tastes awful. I’ll be dumping it.
Dam.

Victory Sunrise Weissbier
As invigorating as the morning rays of the summer sun, Sunrise Weissbier satisfies when the heat is on, too. This unfiltered, Bavarian style ale is true to its origins with all ingredients except for the water having been imported from Germany. It remains unfiltered to feature the tangy, fruity flavors of its unique yeast. The imported German malt contributes greatly to add a crisp, citric snap that makes this beer a superb summertime refresher.
Hazy orangish-yellow with a nice head. A little orange marmalade in the aroma. A little of the banana in the taste and very “wheat-y”. It’s good, for a wheat beer.
Michelob Dunkel Weisse
Anheuser-Busch InBev has repositioned its Michelob brand as “faux craft”. The slogan is, after all, “Crafting a Better Beer”.
Well, hell, I don’t want to get caught up in that “it’s not really craft so it’s no good” nonsense. Sure, I generally prefer to give my money to smaller, local companies. But if it’s good beer why wouldn’t I drink it?
The Dunkel Weisse web page also has the kind of information I like to see about a beer: color; stats like ABV, IBUs, original gravity, etc.; and recommended food pairings.
Deep amber color and clear, with an off-white head with some staying power. Banana and cloves in the aroma with a vaguely vinyl smell. Taste has a little bit of a smoky flavor in addition. I know that I keep saying I like wheat beers when I profess not to, but this time this is one I don’t like.
Buffalo Bill’s Orange Blossom Cream Ale
Beer-a-Day #213
Looks and fizzes like a ginger ale, if a little cloudy. No head retention at all. A lot of orange in the aroma as you’d probably expect. More orange in the flavor, and not much beer. No, I don’t care for that at all.
