Beer-a-Day #297
Ichabod combines malted barley and real pumpkin with cinnamon and nutmeg in a delicious and inviting brew. A rewarding complement to many dishes, Ichabod pairs well with autumnal foods such as poultry and root vegetables. After dinner, try it with your favorite dessert!
Pale gold and clear. Cinnamon is quite pronounced in the aroma. Light [...]
Beer-a-Day #269
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today. In 1990, it became our first gold medal winner, at the Great American Beer Festival. Barney [...]
Beer-a-Day #64
This is day five of Samuel Smith week.
Oatmeal stout is one of my favorite styles.
Dark brown and a beige head, about a finger-and-a-half worth. Smells rather like pumpernickel bread, actually. Nice, smooth body. Yum.

Beer-a-Day #33
As usually happens once a year or so, my FOAM meeting this month was held at the Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland. For the trivial cost of $5 for a glass, I could sample everything they had on tap.
They had a couple of Wild Goose offerings on tap, as well as a large [...]
Beer-a-Day #32
One of my favorite styles, from one of my favorite brewers. That my homebrew club monthly meeting tomorrow is going to be held at their tasting room is just a bonus.
Dark brown to black with ruby highlights. Nice roasted nuttiness. Smooth, but not too smooth. Good stuff.

Is it morning, afternoon, or evening? Anytime is good for some oatmeal.
I just thought I’d interupt your Friday to give you something to look forward to later. (or now) Cheers!

So, I’m home, hanging out with the kids, just chillin’, when the doorbell rings.
It’s the UPS man.
I wasn’t expecting a package, but who knows what last-minute thing my wife might have gotten.
It’s addressed to my family. From Ron’s family.
Well, isn’t that curious? While we send each other greeting cards, our families don’t exchange gifts. Not [...]
Oatmeal Stout… it is one of favorite styles. I jumped all over this Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, by Anderson Valley Brewing Company when I saw it. My first sampling came late at night, the kids were asleep, and my wife and I sat on the porch to read our books and listen to the ocean.
The [...]

I saw this beer the other night and grabbed it. I’m in the mood again for some nice stouts, and from the sound of it The Poet should hit the spot! Cheers!

I just sat down for some football with the grill warming up out side on this sunny crisp fall day and I am sipping one of these Poets and it is just fantastic. Best stout I’ve had in a while.
PS Thanks Al for iPhone plug in!
