I was actually a decent fan of this one. I liked that the flavor wasn't so strong but lighter. It went down very smooth which I guess is good if it is warm outside. But, overall I liked it when I had it and would get it again. That was during the summer though of course.

I've heard a lot of complaints about fruit beer, and maybe it's just that the Canadian microbrews can do fruit beer better, or maybe it's just my personal taste.

Either way, I had a question regarding a very specific fruit beer, or more appropriately, beer cooler. Fruuli. I'm sure you've heard of it, but if you haven't, it's an interesting take on the fruit beer blend. I'd really like to hear some thoughts from other beer connosieurs out there.

I don't know. A bigger malt profile would probably overwhelm the subtle watermelon flavor that's there.

I'm not a fan of fruit beer. This one, at least, was rather unoffensive. I don't think I'll be running right out to buy more.

I wrote about this beer on a recent blog post:
http://www.biteandbooze.com/2009/11/san-francisco-part-iii-olive-oil.html

I wasn't too impressed with it overall. Maybe watermelon is a difficult fruit to work with because the flavor is so light and, well, watery. The beer tasted like a watered down watermelon juice mixed with a Coors Light. Maybe if they used a darker, more flavorful malt and some more hops to make it a beer first and then followed by a hint of watermelon, I would have liked it more.
