Beer-a-Day #339 Perfectly balanced, this authentic version of a German helles-style lager satisfies gloriously. Lean, German malts and fine European hops offer subtle harmony. Pale straw; white head. Odor is light with a bit of grain. Taste is light with some floral essence. A good session beer. Victory Lager submit_url = ‘http://hop-talk.com/2009/12/05/victory-lager/’; Related Posts:Victory St.

Beer-a-Day #338 This dark amber wheat beer features fruity and spicy aromas galore. Significant strength underlies the pleasant citric appeal of this bock beer. Redolent with the flavors of harvest fruit, Moonglow typifies the traditional weizenbock-style so thoroughly enjoyed throughout Bavaria. Left unfiltered, its unique yeast strain gives Moonglow a radiance all its own. Deep

Beer-a-Day #280 Ron loves this stout. Why wouldn’t he? It’s big and bold and full of hop goodness. With a huge, Pacific Northwest hop aroma & character upfront, Storm King subsides into massive, roast malt complexity. More flavor than mere words can adequately describe. Rich and substantial, it will warm your heart. Dark as midnight

Beer-a-Day #278 Menacingly delicious, with the powerful, aromatic punch of whole flower American hops backed up by rich, German malts. HopDevil Ale offers a roller coaster ride of flavor, coasting to a smooth finish that satisfies fully. I am an unapologetic hop-head. How could I not get something called “HopDevil”? Deep amber with a thick

Beer-a-Day #251 A full-bodied lager beer of exuberant and robust character. It’s muscle-man body comes from decocted German malts and noble German hops. Lagered long and cold to refine its strong temperament, St. Boisterous emerges smooth and seductive, with a malty sweet charm. This classic rendition of the German ‘maibock’ style will warm your heart.

Beer-a-Day #215 As invigorating as the morning rays of the summer sun, Sunrise Weissbier satisfies when the heat is on, too. This unfiltered, Bavarian style ale is true to its origins with all ingredients except for the water having been imported from Germany. It remains unfiltered to feature the tangy, fruity flavors of its unique

Beer-a-Day #195 A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that’s Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing

Throughout the sampling of my 40 birthday beers, I am also interleaving some of my normal stock. And, as always, my normal stock contains either something new, or something I haven’t had in a long while. Victory’s Storm King Imperial Stout was a beer I bought myself to share at my 40th party and we

Beer-a-Day #48 Yellow in color, with haze, which isn’t surprising as it’s bottle-conditioned. There’s that classic Belgian yeast aroma, with plenty of banana and spice. Big, malty mouthfeel. Pretty good. Beer-a-Day #46 I’ve been passing over this one at my favorite retailer because I’m trying to move away from hop bombs and because of the goofy character on the label. Reminds me of your cliched prospector in old Westerns. It’s too bad, too, because I rather like this beer now that I’ve tried it. Pale

I was actually a bit disappointed with this one. Now, I am no hops attic, but I have liked a lot of Victory beers. I felt like it was just slightly out of balance a bit too much towards the hops. If you like the bitter, it works well for you though. I prefer a bit more balance myself though. Sort of odd considering how high the alcohol was. Not bad certainly however. Just maybe didn’t live up to my (too high?) expectations.
