Rock Bottom Rock Creek Pale Ale

Rock Bottom Rock Creek Pale AleBeer-a-Day #237

Rich gold in color, this medium-bodied American Pale Ale has a bold, citrus hop character and a touch of caramel maltiness. Try it with something spicy!

My boss said, “Hey, I’m going over to the brewpub for a cold one. Interested?”

What a silly question.

I had the Rock Creek Pale Ale. It was yellowish/orange with some haze. Plenty of grapefruit aroma. It has a nice bite and is quite good. I rather liked it.

Rock Bottom Raccoon Red

Racoon RedBeer-a-Day #177

My boss and I took a member of the server team out to celebrate some good cross-team collaboration. Where better than the local brewpub?

I had some buffalo wings (pretty good, actually, for being so far from Buffalo) and washed them down with their Raccoon Red. Nice and malty, with just a bit of hops. It was good.

Rock Bottom Lumpy Dog Light Lager

Lumpy Dog Light LagerBeer-a-Day #120

I decided to take a break from the disappointments of light lager imports in green bottles. So, instead, I got myself a fresh-brewed domestic light lager that never saw the inside of the bottle. (Besides, my boss invited me to Rock Bottom. How could I say no?)

Light golden color with nice lacing. In the aroma I get a bit of orange zest but it’s otherwise clean. Nicely refreshing with a light to medium body and some pleasant hop bitterness. This is good.

Rock Bottom Stillwater Stout

Beer-a-Day #85

Stillwater Stout

My boss took a few of us out for happy hour at Rock Bottom in Bethesda, Maryland. He’d been going on about the Brown Bear Brown, which was pretty good, but I switched to the Stillwater Stout and I’m glad I did.

Dark, inky black with a beige head. Lots of nice roastiness and chocolate, and creamy smooth. It was very good.

It was very crowded. Well, $1.50 pints will do that. I don’t go to too many happy hours, but, man, the people there seem to get younger every year. What the heck is going on?
